Child Care Program
SLCC helps bridge the gap to higher education by providing on-campus child care services that support student parents as they pursue their academic goals.
To meet the growing need for quality child care for our students and community, SLCC is raising funds to support child care vouchers as well as new playground equipment and supplies for each of the three child care centers. While donations to Child Care Services cannot be designated to a specific campus or cause, funds will be directed to the area of greatest need.
SLCC currently operates the Eccles Lab School at Taylorsville Redwood Campus, the Jordan Campus Child Care Center, and the Tim and Brenda Huval Child Care Center at South City Campus.
Bridging the Gap to Higher Education
SLCC is committed to supporting the success of its students in every way
possible. One of our students' most significant challenges is access to
affordable child care. The child care program provides financial aid to
low-income students who need help covering the cost of child care.
“We believe that every student who wants to pursue higher education
should have the opportunity to do so, regardless of their financial situation
or personal responsibilities. Unfortunately, the cost of child care can be a
significant barrier for many of our students, particularly those struggling to
make ends meet,” said Holly Garcia, director of Child Care and Family Services
at SLCC.
By donating to the SLCC child care program, you can support students working
hard to achieve their educational goals while raising a family. Your donation
will go directly toward vouchers, which eligible students can use to pay for
child care at licensed providers in the community, including SLCC’s three
child care locations at our Taylorsville Redwood, South City, and Jordan
campuses.
Your generosity can make an incredible difference in the lives of our
students and their families. With your support, we can ensure every student
has access to the resources they need to succeed in college and beyond.
Whether you are a former student, a community member, or a business owner,
your contribution can change lives and build a stronger, more equitable
community. Thank you for your support!
